We are supporting several projects across the world.
Here you can read more about what we are supporting in each of these countries.
Mission in the war zone on the border between Thailand and Burma
One of the big mission challenges in our world today is mission among those who suffer because of armed conflicts. Missionsforbundet is engaged in a work among ethnic groups in the border area between Thailand and Burma, where the Burmese military are fighting freedom movements. We have received reports of villages burned down, destroyed churches, forced displacements, and exploitation of people into force labor. Thousands of women and children are seeking to hide in the many refugee camps on the Thai side of the border and others are hiding in the jungle.
Work in the refugee camps
Volunteers from Danish Covenant Church are engaged in helping in the refugee camps. Some are teaching in the bible school in the Mae La camp where over 300 young people are studying. Others are nursing the sick, while others are teaching English. We are giving financial help to the many orphaned children and through Voice of Peace we support the work with music and other things.
Micro finance project in Burma
In connection with the big cyclone in 2008 where around 150.000 people’s lives were lost, Missionsforbundet, together with Danish Mission Council Development Department, helped in a relief project. This is now followed by a micro finance project also supported by DMCDD. Our partner is the Karen Women’s Action Group which is a part of the Karen church in Burma. Through this poor families are supported. When they have lost everything, this helps them to have an income again to support their family.
